Vacation Ideas For Young Couple On A Budget ($1500-$2000), No Cruise Please!?

We are celebrating our 1st year anniversary plus he just turned 21, looking to go somewhere fun and exciting (maybe water sports??). Any good ideas? Was thinking of Daytona Beach or Fort Launderdale, but have no clue how much it'll cost to do fun stuff around that area and food.....any preference?

What Are Nice Vacation Spots In California?

I was thinking of planning a trip to Cali but I don't know to which city and beaches. I just want a place that has clean beaches, water sports, good restaurants, a hotel with spa treatments and shopping in the area. I know nothing about Cali though so its hard for me to plan a trip. Any suggestions on places to stay and places to go?
